Board Of Directors
Dee
Since I moved to this wonderful community over 50 years ago I have felt the need to find ways to say “thank you” for the good life I have had living here. So, it is an honor to serve as a volunteer on the Port Angeles Food Bank Board. This has given me the opportunity to meet and work with the dedicated staff and volunteers who help in the store, both unpacking food and filling shelves and bins with quality/nourishing food, and also picking up and delivering food throughout our community. With today’s constant rise in the cost of food, transportation, and housing families are finding it increasingly difficult to provide healthy nutritious food for the family. The Port Angeles Food Bank Maketplace gives them this opportunity to find such quality foods, such as eggs, milk, vegetables, feuit and meat. In addition there is now a new kitchen on site where the chef on staff can create delicious soups and sandwiches to take home.
When you are out and about I urge everyone to please come by and see this store in action and recognize the true support provided here for our community. -Dee Christensen

I am on the board of the PAFB because I believe in the mission of the organization and I want to help strengthen and promote that mission. I like that the organization is thinking of new ways to reach people in the community (Mobile Food Pantry) and also how the organization strives to get healthy food to the community through its programs (Nourishing the Community). - Tara Demers

The belief that food is love initially drew me to the PAFB. While volunteering in the warehouse I could see how well the organization was run and was honored to join the board. We’re laser focused on details of good governance and fiscal responsibility to ensure the food bank is around for as long as needed. We feed individuals so other bills get paid and eviction notices are kept at bay. Keeping people afloat during these tough times is a priority and I’m pleased with the emphasis we place on doing so with dignity and respect. - Frances Howell

I was originally attracted to the PA Food Bank as someone in need of food assistance, but reluctant to ask for it. But once there, the welcoming atmosphere and the generous donations to my pantry more than eclipsed my hesitation. In the years since, the PAFB has continued to help my family, just as it does thousands of other individuals and families in our area. My way of giving back was to join the Board and help spread the word about this wonderful facility and the assistance it provides to so many. - Diane Lopez
Jackie
Jackie serves on the PAFB Board due to her deep interest in food security and other social determinants of health. “I love having the opportunity to learn from such a forward-thinking organization that makes such a huge difference in the lives of people in this community.” - Jackie Lebihan
Kelly
After my retirement, I was looking for a local organization where I could possibly apply some of my life’s skills to helping the PA community in some small way. The PAFB was a perfect fit. Helping to provide healthy food to those who need it is the core of the FB motto “nourish to flourish “. As a Board member, I am working to make your FB a permanent resource for food security throughout our community. - Kelly Fisher
